Essential Tools for Moving

These tools should be part of every moving job to ensure efficiency and safety:

Box Cutter

Having a box cutter on hand will make your life much easier after the move. You'll be able to cut tape and open boxes quickly.

Hand Truck (Dolly)

Essential for moving heavy items. Consists of two wheels, a ledge and a handle to make lifting and carrying easier.

Tape

Both packing tape and duct tape for securing moving boxes. Duct tape can also be used for repairs around the house.

Furniture Sliders

Attach to furniture feet to prevent scratches to floors and make moving heavy furniture easier.

Tape Measure

Essential for measuring doorways, furniture, and spaces. Get one that extends to at least 12 feet.

Electric Drill

Cordless electric drill for drilling holes, assembling furniture, and installing hardware.

Multi-bit Screwdriver

Comes with multiple bits and interchangeable tips for various tasks like changing hardware and tightening screws.

Allen Wrench

Necessary for assembling furniture with hexagonal bolts and screws.

Moving Blankets or Pads

Protect furniture and fragile items from spills, dust, and damage during transport.

Ropes and Straps

For carrying heavy items and securing items to a dolly or truck. Prevents back strains and injuries.

ShrinkWrap

Protects furniture and keeps items secure during moves.
